Island V4.1 puts new weather on old bones.

The same three-island voyage now has denser surfaces, louder places, clearer controls, and a lighthouse that is difficult to miss. V4 remains the stable release. V4.1 is where the new rendering and interface work gets tested.

Your stable save stays safe. The preview keeps its progress in a separate browser slot, so a reset or rough edge in V4.1 will not change V4.

The Explorer Robot and Mote stand beside the new Tidewatch Lighthouse above the ocean.
Tidewatch Lighthouse replaces a quiet lookout with a working beacon, gulls, sea spray, and a very determined little door.

What changed from V4

The route is familiar. The places are not.

The campaign still begins at Canopy Crown and ends at Tidelight. V4.1 concentrates on how each stop looks, sounds, and explains itself.

Surfaces gained a second life.

Supported browsers use WebGPU with new grass, sand, water, lighting, and post-processing. The exact WebGL fallback remains available when that path is not ready.

Each island speaks louder.

Emberglass adds molten ground, steam, particles, and volcanic audio. Tidelight adds the lighthouse, cliffs, spray, a moving beacon, and coastal sound.

The interface stopped scattering tools.

Map, journal, ecology, settings, controls, and credits now live in one field console. Touch prompts and gamepad labels follow the active input.

Wildlife can hold the camera.

The drone can begin a short observation view around a nearby animal. Move again when you are ready to return to the route.

Mobile movement is less cramped.

A floating movement stick, cleaner action controls, and stronger input prompts replace the old row of tiny utility buttons.

Recovery is part of the preview.

If WebGPU is unavailable or loses the device, the preview can move to the compatibility renderer instead of leaving the archipelago closed.

Four field views

Take the long way around.

These are direct captures from the V4.1 compatibility renderer. WebGPU adds the denser surface treatment when the browser supports it.

The Explorer Robot and Mote inspect a glowing root-light site on Canopy Crown while island wildlife gathers nearby.

Canopy Crown

Root-light, a watchful glider, and the soft green slope where the voyage begins.

The Explorer Robot and Mote cross a glowing lava channel on the steep side of Emberglass.

Emberglass

The hot island now carries visible lava routes, steam, particles, and a low volcanic pulse.

The Explorer Robot stands among fiddler crabs and tideglass skimmers on Tidelight Atoll with the lighthouse in the distance.

Tidelight Atoll

Crabs and skimmers cross the lagoon while the new lighthouse keeps watch from the far shore.

The Tidewatch Lighthouse rises above its brick court, sea cliffs, and coastal spray.

Tidewatch Lighthouse

A full landmark with masonry, weathering, cliffs, sea stacks, gulls, spray, and a turning beacon.

What moved underneath?

The V4.1 tree adds 87 files and changes 27 existing ones. The largest shift is the rendering path. Native WebGPU can run new surface materials and post-processing, while the compatibility route keeps the same game available through WebGL.

  • New presentation systems: WebGPU materials, post-processing, island lighting, enhanced surfaces, and renderer recovery.
  • New place systems: Emberglass volcanic geometry and steam, plus Tidewatch Lighthouse architecture, cliffs, spray, gulls, and sound.
  • New interaction systems: fauna observation, modeled interaction props, clearer input glyphs, and one keyboard, touch, and gamepad navigation model.
  • Unchanged campaign: Canopy Crown, Emberglass, Tidelight Atoll, their guardians, daily currents, and the repair loop still form the voyage.
