I’ve written this week how I’m using the opportunity for data.PUNK to figure out ways to try to be more intentional with art styles. This app on Emission Factors is another in that set of examples. This app is aesthetically a completely detour from the others in a lot of ways. Let’s consider, by way of example, the main menu.

This aesthetic is a mixture of a zine like behavior, but also brings in some unique flairs all by itself. The notable part is the stickers that are very scrapbook feeling in the experience. Now, the experience is hollow in a lot of ways-I’m just not a fan of it, but since my focus is less “fully realized games” like independence town and more “what can we do with the art and the data?”

It is quite a bit of fun.

What I love most about this is that it’s visually just so unique from anything I’ve done before. It wouldn’t have been possible for me to even come up with this before AI-it is for me one of those examples of something that without AI would never have been done.
